Lunch in Provence, without the jetlag.

2014 JAX Y3 Rosé

As perpetual Rosé lovers, we wanted to craft a style that would reflect the delicate pureness that even a French wine lover would fawn over. The key determinant would be the highest acclaimed vineyard source in the Russian River Valley. In fact, all other Pinots sourced from this vineyard are priced at least twice as high. With minimal skin contact, this delicate Rosé offers a bone-dry style accompanied by a touch of weight and complexity. Step up your game, and select this refreshing, food-friendly choice as a worthy alternative to your normal summer sipper. Think "Lunch in Provence"!

Tasting Notes

Aromas of wild strawberry and white jasmine leap from the glass of this dry Rosé of Pinot Noir. On the palate, layers of yellow cherry, juicy cantaloupe melon and tart raspberry are accented by mouth-watering acidity and a clean, refreshing finish. This wine pairs perfectly with fresh, herbed goat cheese, lazy pool-side lounging and balmy summer evenings spent on patios with great friends.

2012 Y3 Taureau

The name Taureau, was the name of the Jackson family's prized bull, legendary for his feisty, high-kicking and vibrant personality. When perfecting this wine at their blending session, the JAX team concurred that the character of their infamous bull reflected the structure and elements of this indulgent red blend... and what a perfect tribute to their family ranching legend.

Tasting Notes

This wine is what one would expect with a name like Taureau. The blend pushes through to the senses aromas of blackberry, wild cherry and espresso. Boasting a sensational flood of deep plum, black cherry and kirsch all supported by polished tannins. Balanced and delicious, this wine drinks well upon release and will cellar until 2028 and beyond.

So rich and bright, it gives other chards an inferiority complex.

2013 Y3 Chardonnay

Y3. Or as you may ask, why not? After all, the beauty of this wine runs far deeper than the label. Celebrating three generations of land-tilling, wine-loving Jacksons, siblings Kimberly and Trent are proud to present Y3, a wine as special as the memories of their grandparents at Yarrayne Ranch.

In our humble wine-obsessed opinion, many Napa Valley Chardonnays tend to be over-styled with excessive butter and oak. But as the Jackson siblings know (through lots of “testing“), an outstanding Chardonnay owes its success to outstanding fruit, not a heavy style. We think you’ll agree.

Tasting Notes

The Y3 Chardonnay begins with tropical finesse, fresh white fruit aromas and lingering notes of honeysuckle and sliced pear. The palate is clean with bright citrus and a tingling minerality. Neither pushy nor boastful, this Chardonnay will leave a lasting impression that is enjoyable now through 2018.

2013 Y3 Sauvignon Blanc

Summers get hot in Calistoga and it was on such a feverish day that siblings Kimberly and Trent found inspiration for this wine. The aim was simple: Make a clean and refreshing wine while representing a true to varietal Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc.

Tasting Notes

This Sauvignon Blanc begins with fresh vibrant aromas of melon, pear, grapefruit and hints of dried apricot and fig. The palate captures the essence of the aromatics with a bounty of bright citrus and minerality laced with crisp acidity that lingers with a fresh finish.

inside and out.

Sourced from Dutton Ranch's Sebastopol vineyard, our JAX Reserve Chardonnay vines dwell in famed "moon dust" soil. This fine grain soil provides the perfect combination of excellent drainage and low yields. Winemaker Kirk Venge crafts a creamy melange of apricot jam, crisp pear and vanilla flavors with a refreshing citrus acidity that keeps this wine fresh and lively on the palate. Hand waxing each bottle, we call this wine "decadence inside and out."

Tasting Notes

This wine begins with an absolutely sensational aroma of orange blossom and honeysuckle. The citrus flavors are full and round in the mouth with focus on the features consistent with clean, detail focused and elegant Chardonnays. Refreshing, vibrant and racy this is a wine that will drink well upon release or even better in years to come.

Cool climate.
Hot date.

2013 Y3 Pinot Noir

Here at Jax, we have always viewed Pinot Noir as a distant fantasy. The grape demands mild temperatures and very specific conditions. Long story short, it's one finicky varietal. Fast forward to the arrival of our new CEO Dan Parrot, a true pinot enthusiast. Having worked with some of the best producers in Burgundy, Dan inspired us to seek the ultimate pinot vineyard. One yielding a complex yet balanced style. Something both lush and elegant. The winner? A small family owned, sustainable vineyard in the Russian River Valley. The result? A pinot that's sure to seduce. But really, why keep your date waiting?

Tasting Notes

The Pinot Noir is modeled classically in the form of its Burgundy counterparts. Lower alcohol, pretty refinement and elegance are the framework that make this Pinot so special. Russian River brings to the picture nuances of bright cherry, strawberry patch, raspberry preserves, crushed spices and red roses. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, enjoy to 2022 and beyond.

What your palate's been training for.

12 JAX Cabernet Franc

This Cabernet Franc is produced solely from the JAX Vineyard in Calistoga. The alluvial loam soil, a summer of ideal northern Calistoga sun and 21 months of patience in the cellar. We knew that we would be doing Cab Franc lovers and ourselves an injustice to not bottle this wine on it's own. Just 3 barrels (72 cases) of this lovely, drinkable, yet age-worthy wine to go around.

Tasting Notes

This sultry wine has a beautiful veil of red/black color that is full of vibrancy. Aromatic notes of bright black cherry, supported with the typical Franc graphite, earth and espresso. Flush with mouth filling flavors including ripe plum, dried cherry and red rock candy. This age worthy Franc will drink well to 2026 and beyond.

Distinctively Calistoga.

12 Jax Cabernet Sauvignon

JAX Vineyards sources this estate Cabernet Sauvignon from the family’s vineyard in northern Calistoga. David Jackson purchased the family vineyard after 5 years of searching for his ideal terroir encompassing alluvial loam soil, dry farmed vineyards, and the elemental protection of our little valley. The JAX name represents an updated twist and memorable abbreviation of the family name.

Tasting Notes

Winemaker Kirk Venge showcases our Calistoga terroir in this estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon. The bouquet opens up with notes of black cherry, espresso and dried herbs. The palate follows with flavors of plum, dried currants and spice. With power, yet retrain, this wine can be enjoyed now or cellared beyond 2030.
