The name Taureau, was the name of the Jackson family's prized bull, legendary for his feisty, high-kicking and vibrant personality. In our humble wine-obsessed opinion, many Napa Valley Chardonnays tend to be over-styled with excessive butter and oak. But as the Jackson siblings know (through lots of “testing“), an outstanding Chardonnay owes its success to outstanding fruit, not a heavy style. We think you’ll agree.
The Y3 Chardonnay hits the mark on the palate, delivering concentrated crisp citrus, green pear and apple notes. Fresh aromatics and Chablis like acidity, this wine is a delicious expression of a picture-perfect vintage. The length and balance of this Chardonnay will leave a lasting impression that is enjoyable now through 2019.
Summers get hot in Calistoga and it was on such a feverish day that siblings Kimberly and Trent found inspiration for this wine. The aim was simple: Make a clean and refreshing wine while representing a true to varietal Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc.
Aromatic notes of grapefruit peel and honeysuckle. Bright, round flavors of fresh fruit, juicy lime, lychee, and Meyer lemon. This wine has a clean mouth feel with refreshing minerality, crisp acidity and a long finish. Wonderful with spicy dishes and fresh summer salads.
Sourced from Dutton Ranch's Sebastopol vineyard, our JAX Reserve Chardonnay vines dwell in famed "moon dust" soil. This fine grain soil provides the perfect combination of excellent drainage and low yields. Winemaker Kirk Venge crafts a creamy melange of apricot jam, crisp pear and vanilla flavors with a refreshing citrus acidity that keeps this wine fresh and lively on the palate. Hand waxing each bottle, we call this wine "decadence inside and out."
This wine begins with a vibrant, golden hue that rolls out notes of butterscotch, light caramel and delicate barrel vanillin. Crisp lemon drop and meringue flavors run rampant around the palate. Medium bodied and dry by nature, there is a slight perceived sweetness of fruit on the finish.
Here at Jax, we have always viewed Pinot Noir as a distant fantasy. The grape demands mild temperatures and very specific conditions. Long story short, it's one finicky varietal. Fast forward to the arrival of our new CEO Dan Parrot, a true pinot enthusiast. Having worked with some of the best producers in Burgundy, Dan inspired us to seek the ultimate pinot vineyard. One yielding a complex yet balanced style. Something both lush and elegant. The winner? A small family owned, sustainable vineyard in the Russian River Valley. The result? A pinot that's sure to seduce. But really, why keep your date waiting?
The Pinot Noir is modeled classically in the form of its Burgundy counterparts. Lower alcohol, pretty refinement and elegance are the framework that make this Pinot so special. Russian River brings to the picture nuances of bright cherry, strawberry patch, raspberry preserves, crushed spices and red roses. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, enjoy to 2022 and beyond.
This Cabernet Franc is produced solely from the JAX Vineyard in Calistoga. The alluvial loam soil, a summer of ideal northern Calistoga sun and 21 months of patience in the cellar. We knew that we would be doing Cab Franc lovers and ourselves an injustice to not bottle this wine on it's own. Just 3 barrels (72 cases) of this lovely, drinkable, yet age-worthy wine to go around.
A bold and powerful take on the varietal. This wine begins with a beautiful, midnight color and is packed with aroma and flavor of great magnitude. This Cabernet Franc is definitely not shy in black cherry, barrel vanillin and even.... a touch of damp forest....but it works! Flavors of pepper, anise, espresso and black plum abound and remain on the palate for over a minute.
This wine focuses its efforts on muscle, flesh, power and resilience. The nose is forward with a beautiful mélange of cassis, dark chocolate, espresso and dried herbs. Perfectly framed tannins integrate with a plush, persistent palate making this a complex wine that expertly showcases our Calistoga terroir. With power, yet restrain, this wine can be enjoyed now or cellared beyond 2030

A very clean nose, with gorgeous pear puree. I like the great mouthfeel of this wine, which is round but not fat, and attacks the palate in a lovely way.
