JAX JAMS KAZEMDE TRIO

Kazemde George is a saxophonist, composer, producer, and educator based in Oakland, California. He attended college in Boston, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology at Harvard and a master’s in jazz composition from the New England Conservatory, studying with Miguel Zenón, Jason Moran, Cecil McBee, and Danilo Pérez. George’s musical palette is expansive, and incorporates the full spectrum of musical styles which blossomed from the African diaspora, including Jazz, Hip-Hop, Afro-Cuban, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Brazilian, and African American traditions.

JAX JAMS JAKE SHANDLING TRIO

Friday 4-9pm 

Deeply inspired by ’60s and ’70s rock, funk, and reggae, and highly regarded as a talented jazz improviser, drummer and percussionist Jake Shandling first made waves in the Bay Area scene as a student at UC Santa Cruz and went on to study with jazz stars including Eddie Marshall, Jeff Ballard, Eric McPherson, and Manley “Piri” Lopez. He has toured throughout the USA and Europe, appearing at venues including the Jazz Gallery, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Stanford University, and Barbes, and performed with Slavic Soul Party!, Zach Moses, Dayna Stephens, Ben Goldberg, and Groundation. After many fruitful years in New York City, Jake has returned to the Bay Area. He is grateful for the means and privilege to connect, express, and uplift through music.
